Kidepo Savannah lodge is located on the edge of the park on Kawalokol hill overlooking Narus valley 500 meters away from Kalokudo gate. The name Kawalokol is in Karamojong language meaning cave hill. Apoka Rest Camp

Apoka rest camp is a budget lodge in Kidepo valley national park that is run and managed by Uganda Wildlife Authority. Therefore it contains 16 self-contained cabins and a hostel offering 14 basic Bandas each comprised of 2 beds, the lodge also offers camping ground where visitors who want to camp can carry their own camping equipment’s, food and drinks.

For visitors planning to stay for long, the staff can prepare food for them upon booking. Those interested in camping need to come with their own tents or hire from the staff at a cost.

 

Nga’moru Wilderness Camp

 

Nga’moru wilderness camp is a mid-range lodge located on the border of Kidepo valley national park 4km from Katarum gate overlooking Narus valley. The lodge offers spectacular views of wildlife, savannah plains, mount Morungole and ideal environment for relaxation.

It’s built in a hill overlooking the stunning Narus Valley offering spectacular view of wildlife. Nga Moru among the Karamojong means “place of stones of rocks”.

The camp has tents that have capacity to sleep upto three people. The tents are raised on wooden platforms that offer good views of animals like ostriches roaming the Narus valley. Apart from tents, there are Bandas (with grass roof) that are self-contained rooms and friendly staff.

How to get to Kidepo valley national park

Kidepo valley national park is in north eastern Uganda in Kaabong district and one can reach by either road or air transport means. there are several routes via road.

The first route, you drive from Kampala via Karuma, Gulu, Kitgum, Kaabong and lastly reach Kidepo valley national park which takes about 10 hours’ drive.

Secondly, you drive from Kampala via Mbale, Sironko, Moroto, Kotido, Kaabong and proceed to the park which takes about 12 hours’ drive.

Lastly, you can also drive from Kampala via Mbale, Soroti, Moroto, Kotido, Kaabong and finally Kidepo valley national park which takes about 13 hours’ drive.

Therefore each route used has a lot to offer such as beautiful scenery, landscape, Rhino tracking when you use the western route via Karuma among others.
